9th Transfer: Week 1 ~ MONTEGO BAY!!!

TRANSFERS with SISTER DILL,
my TRAINEE, Sister Mundle AND
Sister Schwendiman:)
Yes I am now in Montego Bay, Jamaica! woohoo. It is great. I am training a sister. She is Jamaican and her name is Sister Mundle. She is 20 years old. VERY sweet, but she said she would like help with her confidence. These 3 months with her will be great. We are the only 3 sisters in this Montego Bay area and we have 4 Elders. 2 Zone Leaders and a District Leader and his companion who asked me to teach District meeting. Pray for me for that. It was a very interesting transfer...flying to Miami, which was weird to come back to the states.... different world. When I flew into Jamaica the AP's and President Brown picked me up from the airport. President Brown made me eat an orange at the airport. He is so funny. So I was the only sister..... which was weird. But the Elders were fun to talk to. I then waited with them to welcome the greenies who flew into Jamaica from the MTC. I was the only sister there with President Brown. It was great. We had 2 new American sisters fly in then I went into a bus full of Elders. Elder Rouche (AP) was driving as I sat in the front. It was a different but HILARIOUS and FUN experience back in Jamaica. Full of Elders. We had a good laugh. The AP's said something really cool that has stuck with me. They said that TRAINERS have the most IMPORTANT responsibility in the mission and that during a meeting (when they were discussing who would train this transfer) my name was the first one to come out of President Brown's mouth. So I know I am supposed to train... this is what the Lord needs me to do. We also are pretty much white washing this area since we are the first sisters to ever be back in Montego Bay. The last sister missionaries that were here  was 11 years ago.
On my way to Jamaica!:)

I am loving being back in Jamaica. Jamaica is MY HOME for sure. Without a doubt.:) It is a spiritual experience to be out on a mission. I just love it soooo much. I don't want this to ever end. I could stay in Jamaica for another year. I have really learned to have charity and LOVE for the people around me.

Also, our apartment is like a MANSION. They just bought it and it's brand new. I am still living out of my suitcase. We will be getting pillows and dressers this week. We have no pillows so I have been using my red blanket, which has done the job. That's MISSIONARY life. FULL OF ADVENTURES. Montego Bay, by far, is the most mountainous place I have ever served. Ochi does not compare to this. We have people that we teach who are a
Almost There!:)
30 minute hike up a rocky, steep mountain. I am not kidding.. 30 min. hike. I will be so fit when I come home I tell you. Montego Bay is also the 2nd largest city in Jamaica. Kingston is the first then Montego Bay is the 2nd.

So let me answer your list of questions. HA

What was it like leaving? -sad? What kind of question is that? OF COURSE I WAS, but I am a missionary, work must go on.

How did it go with Kevin and Jerome and Monday night? They both were very sad but they wrote in my "signing journal".

Were you able to give your clothes away? Yes, but my luggage was still over weight. I paid an overweight fee but I had all 3 pieces of luggage checked in (even my carry on). The fee for all them together was only 110 dollars. So not too bad. It would have been too hard trying to carry around my carry on with all of the walking I had to do to find my gate. But anyway, everything was good coming back to Jamaica.

What was the plane ride like? Long and fun...airplanes were bare. I got a whole row to myself on this big nice airplane ride to Jamaica.

How was the layover in Miami? It was great. I had a fun conversation with 2 Jamaican ladies. We laughed and laughed.

Where did you stay the night on Tuesday? With Sister Bailey at their house.

I noticed that you were in Montego Bay on Wednesday. How did the training go? Training meeting went great. I had a personal meeting with the AP's in Montego Bay on Thursday. They let me know what I needed to do as a trainer and what is expected of me. It is a 4 hour drive from Kingston to Montego. It was like a road trip. We even passed through my sweet Ochi.

And the big one! WHO ARE YOU TRAINING? Who is your baby?:) MY BABBBBYYY ISSSSSSSSS!!! SISTER MUNDLE!! She is a Jamaican sister. She is my age. I just love her :) What I have been mainly focusing on with her is RELYING ON THE LORD and how to recognize promptings from the Spirit. She has a brother who is a member as well but he is less active. So other than her brother she is the only member of the church in her family. She has been a member for 11 years. She would go to church with her aunt. Her mother didn't even want her to be baptized but she chose to and now she is out serving. She is a strong girl.

What's the teaching pool like? Not too many people so we need to find people in the little towns in the mountains. I hope to bring you guys here to Jamaica to see my areas.

What's your house like? A big mansion like an apartment building.

How big is the branch? Not big at all. We have a nice building but only about 30 active members.

Do you like the branch leaders? OF COURSE! They are great (with their patois and all).

Is it bush like Ochi? Oh yeah a LOT OF BUSH, more Mountainous though. These are real mountains that we are climbing up. The roads have no railing.

How have your experiences been driving the truck?:)) The truck has been great. I have been driving the automatic truck. Me and the zone leaders switched vehicles so they have the dump stick shift truck :) hahahaha

How big is your area? Pretty large.... yeah...its to be expected though.

ALSOOOOO....since I am in Jamaica again just a warning about the computer time here. We e-mail at the internet shop so out of nowhere (when our time is up) the computer will shut down. So if you don't get a response from me after an hour and 30 min. then that means the computer shut down. If that happens I will just e-mail you next Monday. :) Okay? just a warning.

Oh! Now with the weather....it does not matter if it says "80 degrees" with humidity.... its like 200 degrees.

It has been great so far... a LOT of work but the people are amazing. :) Well, time is about up.. so before it logs me out.. I LOVE YOU MOM and I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREATTT WEEEEEEKKK!! STAY SAAAFEEE and I will talk to you all next Monday okay?? :)

LOVE YOU MY FAMILYYYYYYYYYY WITH ALL MY HEARTTT!!!
BYYYEEE

In Kingston: red dirt

This guy told us to put him on Youtube. HAHA
he was so crazzzy. He kept wanting to be in my picture.
Welcome to Jamaica :)

This is Jamaica. This man sells his coconuts from the carriage. The donkey's pull 'em. He goes around and cuts open the jelly coconut. Remember that one picture where you saw me drinking out of a coconut? When they cut the coconut with a machete you can drink the inside. Then they smash it open and we take part of the shell from the outside and use it as a
spoon. Then we scoop out the jelly of the coconut and eat it. If you're not
used to it it can give you the runs but it's very good when you're dehydrated.

Transfer day. The funniest day of my life.
Sister Coleman tried to put makeup on Sister Lewellyn. It was hilarious.
Look at her face! I just love these sisters. They went home this transfer.

This house is what "Ninja Man" lives!
He is a famous artist here in Jamaica.

This is the beginning of us climbing up the mountain to an
investigator. Look at the view of Montego Bay!

What we see as we are climbing up the mountain GOATS.

We finally get up to this field that we found as we are climbing up..but we
still have more to climb after this flat hill....
oh man,...the hike!

We are so tireddd from this hike!
But we keep going.. this picture is actually when its finally getting
a little flatter but you will see that its going to rise again.
Oh goodness.

This is after we hike up the mountain.
You see how high up we are? This is the whole
 view of Montego bay!!!!
