8th Transfer: Week 6 ~ TRANSFER CALLS!

So this is my e-mail for the week just because I couldn't think of anything else that happened due to the excitement of transfer calls.

GOING TOOOOOOO.......................................TRAIN IN MONTEGO BAY!!!!

Montego Bay is a tourist area, however the tourists takes up a very SMALL section of the coast and thats all they see. We don't cover the "tourist area" we cover where the locals are and they are in complete bush. It's very mountainous.  

So, yes I will be training a new sister in Montego Bay. Montego Bay just opened up to sisters last transfer. It used to be only ELDERS. Due to.... you know dangers. So this area is brand new. I have been there before, its beautiful. That's where we used to meet up for Zone Conferences when I was in Ocho Rios. I am glad that the Lord trusts us

to serve there. I will be in a tri companionship CAUSE I don't know the area. So Sister Schwendiman will be my companion as well!! She was one of my MTC companions. I'm excited to see her after 11 months. She is the sweetest sister! She will show us around Mo-Bay since she was there last transfer. Also, I was a bit confused because I thought Sister S and I would train together but they said NOPE I will be the trainer. I will do my best not to EVER make my sweet Sister Schwend feel left out. I am so excited, and SO NERVOUS all at the same time but I am confident I know how to make the new sister feel welcome so it will be great. I GET MY FIRST

BABY! yesssssss. If you haven't noticed in this mission we have a "FAMILY TREE". For example, Sister Bailey is my mom because she trained me and my grandma is Sister Savage because she trained Sister Bailey. So I get my first baby. woohoo. Sister Bailey will be a grandma. :D  Sister M's new companion is a Jamaican sister, her name is Sister Nelson. Sister Nelson is so fun! They are going to get along great. I just had an interview with President Brown and a question I asked him was "How do you recognize the Spirit in knowing where to put missionaries for transfers?" and he told me the process and it was really cool :). He strengthened my own testimony of how, just as in times of old, prophets still receive revelation TODAY. President Brown and the AP's call around to talk about transfers but the Kingston STL's

I leave tomorrow for my trainer meeting in Kingston. Sister Wint and I were on trade offs last night and it was so good for us to talk. We clicked real quick. Then we came home and she sewed my skirt and washed my clothes. It was very sweet of her. :) Transfers (where I get my new sister) will be on Wednesday. Because Sister Bailey is a Sister Training Leader for the island and she is in Kingston, I will probably be staying with Sister Bailey and Sister Thompson in their apartment. But I don't know. We will see. I guess all of this will

be a surprise. So all in all, I am excited. WISH ME LUCK! Jamaica is an experience that I will never forget!! HA oh mannnn .. here I GO AGAIN!! WOOHOO. I will be in Montego Bay for at least 3 months. TIME IS going to FLY by so fast!! 

My flight leaves at 2:30 tomorrow. It's going to be weird to go back to the states. Talk about CULTURE SHOCK for a while.. especially being in the airport by myself with my little name tag. Oh goodness. I need my second witness!! I will be by myself! Oh NOOOOOOO....that's against my missionary white handbook! HAHA :)  But every single day I remember that I'm never alone and my Savior is always there.

OH I forgot to tell you. Guess what?!! The truck that we will be driving in Mo-BAY is a STICK SHIFT! Oh noooo talk about always STALLING on the roads! I'm gonna have Sister Schwend teach me how to drive this truck. Everyone calls it "bumpy". HA!!!

All of our investigators are coming along great. Augustine speaks Creole. He will come to church soon. Sylvia comes to church every Sunday. Gislaine came to church. She will come to church again this Sunday. Kevin IS COMING ALONG GREAT. They will extend him a baptismal date. He actually called us out of nowhere this week and said "Hey Sister Judd, I am ready to make the change I need to make to be baptized. I will be moving out by the end of this month." I was so excited for him. He is great. He will make a great member of this church some day. I told him that I was leaving so we will see him tonight (don't worry, I will take a picture with him). Jerome called me yesterday 

and said "Hey Sister Judd, can I meet with you tomorrow

at 6?" and I said "YEAH SURE!" which was perfect because he needs to sign my journal as well.  Jerome is teaching Gospel Principles now. That's his calling. He is also in charge of a school full of boys who want to

know more about Jesus Christ. So he is bringing a bus full of 200 teenage boys to church where the missionaries can have a great missionary opportunity. So that should be exciting. 

It's amazing to see the progress here in the Bahamas. Everyone (tourists) that comes here asks us if it is hard for us to find people to teach. Our answer is ALWAYS YES.

So many hard hearted people here in the Bahamas. Work here is so hard, but due to the guidance of the Lord through the Spirit the work will continue to go forth here. This church building has been here for over 30 years and a lot of members have been baptized but only 2 hand fulls come to church every Sunday and it's still considered a "branch". Jamaica is further along than the Bahamas in terms of missionary work but it was a privilege to be a part of the work here in the Bahamas. A member of the church here said to me "missionaries who come here are rare. We can count on our fingers how many missionaries have served here in the Bahamas." So it has been a great privilege. Have I told you that everyone on my mission (even in Jamaica) have called me Sister JUDGE? So

I now tell them to just call me the JUDGE:).

8th Transfer: Week 5 ~ Friday the 13th, Valentine's Day and Teaching the Gospel!

Waagwaan with you eh? EveryTING has been going great ova here in the Bahamas. Tings be good ya know. haha, I will try to update you all on my week. Where shall I starttttttttttt...

--> Oh MAN we had FRIDAY the 13th , thats bad luck! Our phone stopped working, our car decided to make a weird noise so we had to check the engine, I almost ran someone over, we didn't have a translator for Sylvia, we got stood up by angelic (a potential investigator we found street contacting) then we had the Valentines social at church that was supposed to start at 7 but started at 8 but it was a great time:)

---> On the bright side me and Sister Mouritsen started waving at people as we were driving making their day BRIGHTER. They were all so happy. Even the women. Man that was a good dayyy. We started counting how many waves we got back and we got 36 waves back in like

a couple of hours. HA. It was entertaining. What missionaries do for entertainment:) Me and Sister Mouritsen make a great team. We both are bold. :) 

---> We get transfer calls this Saturday.

Transfers are next week. I wonder where I will go. All the members are already preparing themselves for me to leave. They are sooo saddd. I seriously think I will cry when I leave. But they warn me that "I better keep in contact" and of course I will. I have to take a picture with all of them before I go. I am nervous about leaving because this is pretty much my home. I love all of the people that I am teaching. But on the other hand I know that whereever the Lord sends me that I can love those

people the same. I will do my best to help strengthen their branch as well. I love meeting new people and gaining that friendship with them so it will be good. I know the Lord knows best. I trust Him completely so its in His hands. Also we are having a missionary fireside this Sunday! I am excited :)

 ---> We had a DIFFERENT Valentines Day. We went to a funeral that was very sad for me. Sister Bastien passed away last Sunday. She had cancer. Man, she was a

strong woman let me tell you... AMAZING. When I got the news I was very devastated. I just loved her but she is in a better place and I know she is teaching the gospel. Sad thing about that though is that there is noone in her family who is a member of the church. Before she passed away she told her husband (who is not a member) that she wanted to have her funeral at our church. But her family said otherwise. They told President Ferdinand that she said to have it at the Anglican Church and to invite the Mormons over there. So we went to the Anglican Church on Saturday for the funeral. Sister Bastien left Anglican to come be a faithful member of our church.  I saw Sister Bastiens body. That really got to me. I had to keep telling myself that her body is just a SHELL and that she is still alive teaching the gospel.

-->But on the bright side of things Camillot bought me and Sister Mouritsen a paper bag full of all different kinds of chocolate bars. He is the best!

 -->A humorous thing that happened last week was that when my companion went in for her check up the doctor told her to go to the ocean and sit in it for her wound. I was like man, I wish I was you right now! But we haven't been able to take her. She said she doesn't want to sit in the ocean. Also, my poor companion...every time I take her to the doctor for her checkups (and even before her surgery) she has to take off her skirt so they can check her lower back. Every time she puts her skirt back on she forgets to zip the back of her skirt so she walks and her booty is stickin out. I don't see it because I walk right beside her. Somebody else tells her or she finds out on her own and she zips it up. I LAUGH SO HARDDDDDDD. We still laugh about that til this day. HAHA my poor companion.

----> ALSOOOO my recent convert JEROME has a new calling!! WOOHOO!! He is going to be the Branch Mission Leaders assistant and Gospel Principles teacher. So he will be working with us missionaries! I just love Jerome. He is going to be great. He is also giving a talk this coming Sunday. :)

---> We have Zone meeting this Wednesday, pray that I won't have to give the talk over Skype.

District and Zone meetings are

actually a leader meeting.

---> Also... our zone leaders told me and Sister Mouritsen that we have the best numbers in the mission. Our numbers consist of 2 member presents, 5 other lessons, 6 contacted, 0 new investigators, and 5 recent convert and less active lessons this week. Numbers are NOT so great but they said what made them the best numbers in the mission is that we have 2 progressing investigators. We have 5 less actives that came to church yesterday and we contacted all of our less actives. We were thinking that our numbers stunk because the other sisters have like 10 member presents and all of these other numbers but the only difference is that noone is progressing. So that made me think about missionary work and these numbers so differently. Its all about genuine LOVE and how you deal with the people you teach. When you are like that towards them that helps them want to come back to church or even want

to learn more about what we believe in. ONE soul is GREAT in the sight of God. That really opened my eyes and it helped us feel great about the missionary work here in our area. So I am very proud. I just LOVE the people we see every day. Let me tell you....man I don't know what I would do if I never would have met these wonderful people. The biggest thing I have learned on my mission is loving others.

I asked about her investigators:

--> We take Sister Etienne out teaching with us (and Camillot) to go see Sylvia. She cannot speak any English. I know some words in Creole that helps her to understand a little bit of what I am trying to say. But other than that Sister Etienne and Camillot translate. Sylvia has been coming to church every Sunday:). She said that she can't understand English, but now that she lives in the Bahamas (she is from Haiti) she wants to learn English. She knows that in order for her to learn it she has to be around those who speak it and she loves that. But in

the mean time we have good fellowship for her who can translate.

--> Mr. Burrows (the book we left on his door) is avoiding us. But who knows that book could affect someone else.

---> We found Gislaine when we were teaching Bannie at her house in the Haitian village. She is Bannie's sister in law. Something about the Haitian village is that people just walk into each others houses. They all know each other and they have curtains as doors. That's how we met her. We have been seeing Gislaine for a while now though. Even before Sister Mouritsen came. So when we went over to teach Bannie, she was there and she wanted to sit in on the lesson. After the lesson she said she wants to be taught . She came to church yesterday!!

-->We found Augustine when we were driving. I told Sister Mouritsen to slow down and I rolled down the window and talked to him. He said that we could come over to teach him. He speaks Creole but he also speaks some English. We take Brother Saint-Nutus with us as a translator. Augustine is awesome.

--> We had 1 Referral from the MTC that was actually in our area.

This was my week. JUST KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU ALLLLLLLL! I am excited to pick up my package!! LOVE YOUUUUU!!
