8th Transfer: Week 3 ~ Coconuts, Strawberries and Teaching the Gospel!

Climbing a coconut tree! In a SKIRT!
So this week has been great. A lot of things have happened though.....where do I begin....

--> So Sister Mouritsen and I have been getting along GREAT. I just love her. We will definitely be hanging out after our missions. Since she just came from Ochi we have had a lot of great conversations about the work there. One memory that we both shared was our washing machine that we had there. Every time we would wash clothes we would get electrocuted HAHAHA!! When we would try to get our clothes out, it would shock us.
I found a coconut! Can I open it
with this other hard fruit I found?
--> As we were driving to an appointment in
Foxhill we saw a pack of dogs barking crazily and I said "What are these stinkin dogs doing in the street?" As we kept driving up we saw a man beating this woman on the dirt ground. She was yelling "HELP" over and over again. Of course, you all know me. My first instinct was to get out of the car and try to get this man off of her. So I told Sister Mouritsen to pull over! As we did I knew that the Lord was restricting us from getting out of the car because we are women and this dude (clearly) is crazy. He might have a weapon. So we decided to stay in the car and stay there just in case it went any further.
I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

Anyway, moving on..

-->We had an area conference broadcast from Salt Lake City just for the Caribbean. Elder Holland, Boyd K. Packer, the Young Women President and Elder Williams from the seventy talked to us. Unfortunately, Salt Lake didn't give us the right time that it started. We thought it started at 10:00am but when President Ferdinand turned it on we noticed that it started at 9:00am. So we only saw the very last speaker which was Boyd K. Packer. But then they had a 2nd session where they would replay it. So we were excited about that. Salt Lake said it started at 1:00pm. We went and guess what? It started
I GOT IT OPEN!!!
at 12:00pm. They kept mixing it up. They should know the time difference. Anyway... we at least got to see Elder Holland and Elder Boyd K. Packer speak. It was great.

-->We had a really funny lesson with one of our less actives. Her name is Jaclyn. I just love Jaclyn she is very strong. She is Haitian and is a single mother. She has 2 kids....Justin and Jade. We went last night to see her. As we were sharing a spiritual thought on the Atonement, out of nowhere Justin started acting up. She took his tablet away. When she did that, Justin got sooo upset! He already has a cold so when he was crying it was making him sick. He started throwing up over, and over, and over on the floor! Here in the Caribbean they don't have carpet. She kept smacking his hand and telling him to calm down and that would make him more upset so he kept coughing and throwing up on the floor. I felt bad for the poor little guy cause he was so sick and Jaclyn was exhausted because she works all night and all day. She barely gets any rest. So I said, "Justin, come with Sister Judd. Let me take you to the bathroom." As I took him and lifted up the toilet seat, I saw all of his vomit from when Jaclyn took him in there AND then that made me sick!! I started gagging and then eventually spit in their sink. I did that and came back and Justin was still throwing up. Sister Mouritsen looked at me and she said "Sister Judd, I am getting sick" HAHA. It was like a domino effect!! Jaclyn just laughed and laughed at all of us but man that was an experience that I will never forget. That was so craaaazzyy.

-->Also, we picked up President Brown last Monday and that went great. It was fun talking with him. I asked him about the Spirit World and we had an awesome conversation. He took us to Outback for dinner and then we took him to the church so he could do the audits. On Tuesday morning we woke up early to pick him up from his humble little hotel and drove him back to the airport. I just LOVE President Brown. The Lord knew that I was supposed to

Every time we make a dessert it doesn't
turn out too well:)
meet him. He is just so wonderful. Someone that I will never forget.

--> Also, we had a very spiritual lesson with Kevin, our investigator. I've been teaching Kevin for 5 months. He admitted that he was ready and wants to get baptized so I told him
that the next time we meet, we will talk about the requirements for baptism. That night it was getting close to our curfew so we couldn't stay. So for that lesson with Kevin we invited Jerome (my recent convert) and Sister Reid to come with us. MAN was it a great lesson! The spirit was so strong that we didn't even have to bring up the changes he needed to make before baptism and he is willing to make those changes. That was amazing. That made me sooo happy. He will be baptized soon :)

--> We have 3 new investigators. They are William (I talked to him in the clinic when I was waiting for Sister Mouritsen), Mr. Burrows and Sylvia. Sylvia and William are awesome! but Mr. Burrows says he is in "Eleuthera" which is another island of the Bahamas. He is a strange soul.
Left a B of M on
Mr. Burrows office door.
It has our testimonies in it.
I hope he has it:)

Sylvia actually cannot speak ANY English at all so she has inspired me to learn some Creole. This week Sister Mouritsen and I have been working on that. We have so many people that we teach who speak Creole. Missionaries who come to this mission need to learn CREOLE as a language. It is so necessary here. We're trying to learn enough to get us around. But anyway, we have been taking Sister Etienne teaching with us as our translator. As we were teaching Sylvia a lesson about the Restoration, this woman came in. She turned out to be some pastor who created her own church. She asked a few questions and I always answered her questions to where she could not deny what we had told her. She was listening as I was teaching about the Great Apostasy and how the churches arose during that time. She asked us one more question.."How do you know that only one church has the fulness?" I immediately told her, "Its simple. Pray and ask your Heavenly Father." Right when I said that she got up from her chair and said "You are good." And walks out and leaves. Sister Etienne told us "Wow, you scared that lady off" haha. That was a great experience. She could not deny that what we were saying was true nor did she try to argue with us.

--> Last thing I want to mention is that I have been very sick lately. I was up last night with a really bad fever, the shakes, very bad sore throat, ears pounding and a stuffy nose. We had a crazy weather change this week but now it's getting HOT again so my body is all out of whack. Luckily my sweet companion gave me her cold medicine which has been helping me and I got cough drops. But with the fever ... man it makes it horrible. My fever has gone down though so no worries. I just have to keep taking the medicine to prevent it from coming back. But this weather is crazy.

I never thought IN a million years that I would be out here teaching the Gospel to a lot of people, preparing talks on my own, giving a talk in front of a General Authority and having courage to go out to people on the street and testify of what I know to be true. Having faith has led me to be courageous. I know I am not ALONE. I know my FATHER is here for me. Even this morning when I was very, very sick I laid in my bed and said a prayer. When I did I knew that my Heavenly Father was right by my side lifting me up and giving me the strength to keep moving. With faith, He performs miracles in our lives.

I am glad all of you are doing well and are happppy there in Texas. You all are in my prayers every day. LOVE YOU ALL! Continue to be safe and have a wonderful week.

LOOVE YOUU my famillyy

Love,
Sis Judd

This "Bacardi" place is where all the tourists like to come and drink.
We always laugh at this place because it has a little devil. I told
Sister Mouritsen that I am glad they finally realized that drinking
is bad:)
