6th Transfer: Week 4 ~ Search, Ponder and Pray

JuJu learning how to
do the wash:)
So my week consisted of Sister Dill and I rocking out to "As Sisters in Zion" and trying to share the gospel with everybody. As usual.

But I strive to find some more information to tell you guys, so here it goes!

We were trying to go around and do our missionary work when a preacher at the end of this particular road pointed at us and yelled "REPENT!" He does this to every car that passes him.........that is all he says. You would think he would know something else to say. I guess when he read his BIBLE he took the Lords counsel to his apostles tooo seriously. So now he spends his time in Nassau on the same road every day yelling out (very loudly) "REPENT!" to us and everyone else. I tried to wave at him once and he just smiled and yelled "REPENT!" at me still so I will continue to wave at him to make him happy :).

Also, this week we had a member take us to downtown Nassau. We went to eat at this place called Chill in Grill. Which, by the way the food is amazing! As we were waiting on the member to get there these 2 tourists, a man and a woman, came up to us and the guy said all excitedly "Where are all of you from?!" I looked at him and was like um.......... and then he said "Oh I am from Salt Lake City, Utah!" as he holds this beer in his hand. I said "Oh okay cool! have you been taught by the missionaries before?!" He said, "Oh actually we both have been raised Mormon. Our families are still very active. At age 16 we both chose to leave it". It was sooo sad to see them both choose that path! I think they were a couple, and to see what they think is a "better" life.. is really sad. Hopefully one day they will choose to come back. They were very, very nice. I could tell they were raised LDS.

A spiritual experience that I had this week was.......around 8:00 on Friday night our appointment canceled on us. While driving around we went through a grocery store parking lot. I saw this guy walking. I drove past him but I kept thinking about him and looking in my rearview mirror. So I started to slow down and Sister Dill asked me "you ok?" I said " I think we need to talk to this guy". So I parked the car and we got out. He willingly accepted the pamphlet on the restoration, we got his contact information and he went on his way. We shall call him! He was very, very nice! He is from the Baptist Ministry Church here but I know he could be a very good investigator. Even if nothing comes out of it, I am just glad I acted on the prompting.

Well, in 1 Nephi 11:1 it says: "For it came to pass after I had desired to know the things that my father had seen, and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in mine heart I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord, yea, into an exceedingly high mountain, which I never had before seen, and upon which I never had before set my foot". Nephi is a great example. He believed, or in other words, he had the FAITH to know that the LORD was able to make things known unto him and because of his faith, the Lord did just that.

I know the Lord works mighty miracles in our lives due to faith. The Lord cannot perform miracles without faith. Faith is everything....in ALL that we do. It is the driving force to push us to do what is right and gives us hope for a brighter future. I remember once reading that the eye of the natural man may not see the huge blessings God performs in our lives, but as we do our best in putting off the natural man and become a SAINT we will be able to see the hand of God in our lives.

How can we build our Faith?
Studying and Pondering the Scriptures and Praying!!

Not only do we need to READ the scriptures but we should PONDER them! As we do so, the Spirit will come in and teach us. We can go to the Father in prayer and ask him if what we are reading is true then we need to wait for our answer. This is how we will learn and draw closer to our Father in Heaven. The words are His. This work is His. So lets ask him in faith knowing he will show us the way. He will reveal things to us in His own time and in His own way.

Jerome (our investigator that we have been teaching) has accepted his baptismal date for December 27th. It's so far away because our Missionary Plan has changed. The investigators have to come to church for 5 Sundays before they can be baptized, which I definitely agree with. It will be harder to get people there for 5 Sundays but it's the right thing to do. People need to be sincere about this decision before they make a big promise to the Lord. But I am very excited for Jerome! :) He has 2 younger boys and he really likes being taught. He told us he wants to meet with us a lot more during the week. So we will now see him 3 times a week to prepare him for his baptism. But as always.. Satan is going to do all he can for him to not reach his date. BUT I know Jerome will be baptized. He is awesome!!

Yeah our apartment is nice. However, we no longer can have the AC on in the house. It costs too much so we are living off of fans. It is HOT all of the time. Humid and hot. It's horrible. I am just waiting for it to get cooler here. I just want to feel COOL WEATHER! AHH...LOL! It's almost Christmas for goodness sakes. While doing the service project at the nursing home I got a little sun burn. Who gets a sunburn in October? It's insane! And also our apartment is full of ants and spiders and roaches. Our water heater in our apartment is broken so we no longer have hot water. We shower in cold water which stinks. Oh well I am used to it. But our house has improved from Ochi's. At least we have carpet in our individual rooms and we have real windows :)

On the bright side of things I found a wonderful journal this morning! So I can now start my study journal. When I am done all of you can see it! Lisa said she wants to help me decorate the front of it. So I am excited!

BYE MOMM AND FAMILY! LOVE YOU!!
