5th Transfer: Week 1 ~ "Relief Society"

I have had a really hard week but it was fine. On the bright side I LOVE my companion!! We get along very well. She is awesome and very sweet. I got the pictures! I got soo excited! Lauren looks alot bigger now. I can only imagine how she will look when I get back home. But I will tell you more about my week in another letter I just wanted to reply to this one first :) Love you!

What message would you share with the youth of the church?  The only thing that comes to my mind, is staying strong (holding on to the iron rod) and having an eternal perspective to keep them going. Tell them about PRAYER and how important PRAYER is. When someone becomes close to their Heavenly Father they don't want to stray. When they genuinely feel that love for their Savior and their Heavenly Father (because of the relationship they build with them) their faith increases which then leads to them always abounding in good works. So that's something that comes to my mind. Thats what I teach the youth out here on my mission. They really listen.

So as you can see by the title, I have learned a lot about Relief Society this week. You're probably thinking "wow so random" but its true and I have loved every second of it. I recently received this Relief Society book called "Daughters of Zion" (something like that). It talks about how Relief Society began etc. In personal studies every morning I have read more and more in this book. I absolutely LOVE IT! I had no idea what Relief Society even stood for but now I know exactly what it is. Everything is making more sense and I have a lot more appreciation for Relief Society. It amazed me how diligent, loving and courageous these pioneer women were. When the men were working on the temple most women took their own money and time to make quilts and things for the temple. When the people got sick these women took their whole day in loving and caring for the poor and quilted them blankets and fed them. When women lost their children while traveling west, other Relief Society sisters came and helped them and showed their love towards them. How amazing they were. Even a non Latter Day Saint said that he doesn't believe what they believed in, but he doesn't doubt how diligent and wonderful the women were back then. He said they were just so amazing. They were. They were just so righteous. They even said that what kept them going were the covenants they made inside the temple. The love that they all had for the Lord just amazes me. I strive to be like those women one day. Diligent, Loving, Courageous and Patient. I recently learned that sometimes we pray to acquire these Christlike attributes. But the thing is....we already have them. We just need to find it in ourselves to bring that back out in us.

Now, as for my week it was a really tough week for me. I had to lead my area and of course it wasn't easy. The people are very hard to get a hold of here but I still feel like we did a pretty good job. The Lord sees our work. My companion and I follow the Spirit and we do what we feel we need to do. I feel like Satan is doing all he can to bring us down and its been very, very rough. Even before my 6 month mark I knew that this point would be the hardest. When I was out 4 months I had a dream and it was random. It was about this lady that came up to me and said "oh its okay. After your 6 months you can just go home. That's what I did" and my dream was over. Ever since then I've known that at my 6 month mark something was going to happen and it would be so hard to where I would want to come home. And I am to that point but don't worry I am not giving up. This has just been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Physically, Emotionally and Spiritually. But anyway.. I am done talking.. just know I will keep pressing forward.

So on P-day we went to "Fort Fincastle" which was this really cool place where the Caribbean Soldiers were. It is the highest hill here in Nassau and they used it to watch the sea for pirates.

Sister Bailey and I are besties. I just love her with all my heart! I hope we both get transferred to the same area after Nassau. HAHA!

I was cast into prison

My Water Tower that was built in the 1940's

We have huge lizards in Nassau

After the historical site we went to this place called the Queens Staircase. It was another historical site which was pretty cool.

Sister Oman and I walking down the staircase and saw this waterfall and decided to take a picture.

Im holding up the rock, I'm very strong :).

We also broke down while traveling to a historical site on our P-day. It was pretty fun.

Sister Woolf (right when I got here) went over a speedbump too fast and the bottom of the car came off. So our investigator Rhada tied it back on. Before Sister Woolf left she taped the other half of it on. So the tape came loose and we tied it up again with something else that we found in the trunk :) Because of this speed bump incident I will be taking the car in to get fixed on October 6th. We will be walking here in Nassau for 2 days which is very dangerous but...... pray for us :) haha just kidding we will be fine.

We saw these cool hand made sculptures representing the slavery here.

Sorry...your probably sick of ocean pictures but I LOVE THE OCEAN
