5th Transfer: Week 3 ~ "The Lord Is Blessing Us"

So I'm going to try to keep this e-mail short cause I don't feel like writing too much. :) Anyway, this week was good. I am teaching basic English to the people that just speak creole. They are understanding it very well and are now forming sentences! I'm so proud! We found alot of new investigators. I just decided to park the car and start walking to find these people. I don't want to sit around and wait for someone to come to me because most likely that won't happen. I know that the Lord is blessing us. He sees our efforts and all we can do is pray for strength and guidance as long as we keep ourselves busy and "GET TO WORK." So I have been seeing many blessings this week. The work IS hastening, no matter what. It's just our choice to either be a part of it or not.

This week we went to a recent converts house. His name is Andrew and he is AWESOME. He is 23 and his wife Lisa is 24 (I think). Andrew got baptized right before I got here. They are strong members of the church and they are actually the only ones who are willing to come out with us anytime! They have a sweet little son and he is 4 years old. So cute. But Lisa was recently called to be the Relief Society President (which she is amazing) and Andrew got called to MISSIONARY WORK. So he works with our Branch Mission Leader. They are awesome!

Rhada and Narissa (BYU-I) are doing good. We are going to try and see them this week. We do have new investigators! We got 2 new investigators this week. We went out and found them ourselves. And we received 3 people this week to contact or it might even be more....which we did. So we have been working hard this week (the power just went out as I was typing. Here in the Carribean islands we don't have great electricity. It just goes on and off during the day...even in our apt.).We found our new investigators walking on the street (I wish we could call it knocking on doors but its a little bit harder than that here in the islands). President Brown actually came out in our mission saying that we are not allowed to be knocking on peoples doors. Even the Branch President here in Nassau told us not to. It's very dangerous here and they don't want their missionaries getting killed. LOL. But we recently had an experience here at the church. The church has a fence all around the building. We were having an activity and these men came to the fence and started yelling at me and Sister Oman to come to the fence. I had a really bad feeling and I told Sister Oman NOT to go to the fence! They were trying to say they were interested in buying the car that we have in the church parking lot but they were laughing and I wasn't stupid. We ignored them and after that Andrew told us that "they were not interested in the car." We as sisters need to be careful. It's not safe. So now we are not able to knock on doors but if I see someone out of their house while we are walking, I will go up to them. So that is how we find :)

All of us at the baptism yesterday!
I forgot to tell you! The other sisters had a baptism yesterday! Her name is Linda and she is 17. I actually taught her with them and she is amazing! I was so happy for her. We have some good members here in this branch.

Sister Bailey is the district leader for us sisters here in Nassau. She teaches us every Wednesday haha! It's hilarious .. its kinda fun :) I will be so sad when me and Sister Bailey go to different areas. She's like family to me! The Freeport Elders are on a completely different island. There are 700 islands in the Bahamas but only 30 are inhabited. They are almost connected to Florida. Everyone says Freeport is very nice. They can have the vacation island I will take this one:).

All of us with Sister Dean!
Her son is serving a mission in Jamaica!
I am SOOO glad that Chandler and Lauren had a wonderful birthday! I thought of Lauren on her birthday and I thought of Chandler on his birthday. So I'm glad all went well! Although, I knew that there would be at least a little complaint about Laurens birthday and it was the camera. Which is horrible! Sorry mom! That reminds me of my dinner appointment at Sister Deans house. She is all about pictures! While we were eating she was taking pictures so she could put them on her Facebook. After she took all the "pictures" that she "loved" we glanced at them and noticed that... they were all VIDEOS. HAHAHAHA!!

She was so aggravated! She wanted the flash on but it wouldn't come on. When we all figured out she was taking videos instead of pictures she said "no wonder my flash wouldn't work" HA! It was hilarious I laughed so hard. Poor Sister Dean :)

I have to apologize. I needed some food (and the food here is very expensive) and because its the end of the month I had to buy some with the home card. SORRY about that.... I felt horrible when I did it but I was dying of starvation. Thanks for giving me a little extra cash. It really has been a blessing for me since I have been out here. I have just learned to buy the things that I

NEED. I have literally been living off of baked potatoes all week cause its cheap and its fast to make :) I thought that would be a little funny fact for you to know.

Did I tell you....?! This week we had zone meeting with all of the off island missionaries. We have it once a month. They sent everyone a mass text telling all of us to prepare a talk. Right when I got that text I knew I was going to be the first one in line because I didn't want to do it. Even Sister Oman said that I was going to give a talk and guess what happened on Wednesday......? I was the first one to give the

talk in zone meeting over Skype. I spoke on the "worth of souls". It was nice to look into my topic. I don't get nervous at all anymore. Even on Sunday when I get asked to say a prayer in front of everybody I don't get nervous. Its just because its what we do all the time. But I am pretty sure when I get home I will get back to being nervous after a little while.

We got to see the Women's Conference on Saturday at 8:00. It was amazing! You would have thought I would cry during the talks (which I almost did because they were very spiritual and things I needed to hear) but I cried the most when the children from Korea went up and sang "I am a Child of God". This conference was international!
My English Class!
It just opened my eyes and it was
wonderful to see. I just love kids. They are so humble and innocent.

My English class!! It's every Thursday :)
The main language here is Creole which is a broken down language of French. It's pretty cool. I wish I could speak it but I can't so Sister Bailey and I teach them English. We found the best way to teach them is with pictures and then they understand :) Yuh Me-a Patois still in tact mon. HAHA!! I know my patois very well. Sister Bailey has taught me well hahaha! These are my machetes that I found in the house! I feel like I'm in the Pirates of the Caribbean.

So this week was pretty good. I feel like our area is progressing. Oh by the way, Sister Bailey just walked in and said "Tell my family I said hi" so she is talking about MY family but I am guessing she is now forcing me to let her be apart of it. So I guess I will let her :)

Well Mom I love all of you and I hope you guys stay Healthy and Safe!!! My time is coming to a close. We are going to the Ballards at 6:30 for a dinner appointment. They are in the other sisters area. They are the ones with the huge MANSION with the other 4 houses that their family stays in when they come to visit. But you have a great and fun week! and tell Adam, Chandler , Lauren, Brittany and Dad that I said I miss all of them and that I love each and everyone of them!! I love receiving e-mails from my family! Dads e-mails crack me up hahaha. Love you MOM!!!! Take care of yourself and find some time where you can relax!! :) Talk to you next monday MOM!! BYYYYEEEE!!! :)
